This will show you how to allow port 16000udp through the firewall for operating systems with an advanced firewall.

Contents:

Intro

The standard firewall and the advanced firewall are both interfaces of the same firewall, they are not two separate things.
In any pc firewall you need to allow voobly and the game through.
Two excellent pictorial views that work for Win7/ 8 as well as vista.

Windows Vista

Navigate through to Control Panel > Windows Firewall
Click on "Allow a program through Windows Firewall", in the left-hand pane.
Click on the 'Add port...' button.
Name it "what ever" and set the "Port Number" to 16000, select "udp" then click OK.

Check if your vista has the advanced firewall.

Not all vista's have the advanced firewall. [vista ultimate and premium] If yours does, follow the below set up for win7/8 to create an inbound rule.

Windows 7 and Win8

Navigate through to Control Panel > Windows Firewall
Click on "Advanced Settings" in the left-hand pane.
Click on "Inbound Rules" and then "New rule".
Select "Port", click next then select "udp" and enter "16000 as the local port.
Click next, and allow the connection.
Click next again, and ensure that "Domain", "Private" and "Public" are all ticked.
Name your firewall rule, then save it.

If your having problems, the following may help.

Contents:

Intro

Voobly NAT-T sections: nAT
Voobly self help sections: Help Pages

Game installation and patching

Make sure your game is installed and patched similarly to this:
Patches and Game installation
If it is not, you can direct voobly to find the game by using the "browse" feature in the launcher box that shows as you click a game lobby.

Nat and fast proxy

Setting up a fixed private ip to the playing pc and forwarding port 16000udp to that private ip may help.
Read here: Manual-Setup-of-Fixed-IP
[if the router has DHCP reservation, you can use that instead. its much simpler]
Generic-Router-Setup

Now access the router following step 3 of that link. Enter port 16000 udp in the router single port forward or virtual server section [if you have a single p/forward section, if not in the port range section] and direct it to the private ip of the playing pc. [192.168.... or 10....or 172...]
Remember to apply and save after any router setting alteration.

In the game lobby, at the top of the screen, Settings, Nat Traversal tab, enter port 16000udp in the box. Click apply.
From options, at the top of the lobby screen, use the Network diagnostic to check your connection shows all 16000
Read here for in-depth info,
Nat
From options, at the top of the lobby screen, you can use the Game diagnostic to check your game installation.

Still a problem.

Open the router settings and turn UPnP on. Apply/save
Try with port 16000udp forwarded and without. Apply/save after any router alteration.

General tips

On any firewall and anti-virus on the PC, allow the game and voobly to pass through.
Make exceptions to allow the game/voobly through any active anti-virus app and all pc firewalls.
Check your anti-virus is not scanning your net connections in real time. See if it has a "game mode"
Some AV software has a firewall included. In that case make sure the Windows in-built firewalls are off.
When playing have only voobly running on the pc.

To see what is running at PC boot. All take PC resources.

On XP go to "start" then "run" and type...msconfig...enter.
On Win7/ Win8/ Vista use the search box and type...msconfig...enter.
Once in msconfig, go to the "start up" tab. All the apps you see ticked, start at the pc boot. all take PC resources.
With the exception of your anti-virus and software firewall [zone alarm or the like] or a PC back-up, you dont need those apps loading at boot.
Untick them, apply, reboot the pc.
You will find the pc boots far quicker amongst other things.

Diagnostics.

At the top of any lobby, options, do the network and game diagnostics and show in any post you make.
The Network Diagnostic can be compared to a "perfect" one here:
NAT-Traversal-Network-Diagnostics
The game Diagnostic can be compared to a "perfect" one here:
Game-Diagnostics

To play by ip or lan or play at other places

The game ports 2300 to 2400 and 47624 tcp/udp, will need setting in the router, directed at the playing pc ip.
On the router, turn off UPnP and "block anonymous requests" [some routers only]
If the router has an SPI firewall, turn off or configure for "unsolicited requests"
Apply/save at any router alteration.
